The FidoNet World Wide WebRing The FidoNet World Wide WebRing

The FidoNet World Wide WebRing is just what its name suggests: a WebRing composed of FidoNet participants around the world.

To join the FidoNet World Wide WebRing, you must be one or more of:

...and you must have a web page that contains FidoNet-related material.

There is no requirement for page content but it shouldn't be commercial since we are an amateur network. If it is commercial it must be a BBS and/or FidoNet related product/service.

There is no requirement where the WebRing code is put on your page, as long as it is clearly obvious (and preferrably on your opening screen or close to it).

Join the Ring

1) First, fill out the following form. Submit it, you will be issued a site ID number via email, write it down.

When you finish, press the back button in your browser to come back here and read the rest of the instructions.

Please double and triple check the accuracy of your URL and email address.

Site URL:
Site Title:
Name:
E-mail: (Don't forget your domain - whoever@wherever.com)
Password: Choose a Password and DON'T forget it!
Keywords: Enter up to 20 keywords appropriate to your site.
Description: Enter a short description of your site.
After submitting, write down the 'site ID' that will be issued, and use your browser 'back' button to continue.

2) Next, you need to add some HTML to one of your pages. You can do this one of two ways: by using this HTML blurb, making sure to change __your_site_here__ to the number you were just given as your site ID number.

Or you can wait for the email that is automatically sent to you upon joining the queue and copy the information there directly to your homepage (it will fill in the necessary values for you in the message).

3) You will also need a copy of both the FidoNet WWWRing banner and the WebRing logo, both of which should be placed in your images or main directory.

You may use those links to dowmload copies or snag the two images at the top of this page.

Please do NOT 'link' to these images. Grab copies for yourself and install them in your site.

The Fidonet banner should be set at WIDTH="250" and HEIGHT="100", and the Webring banner set to WIDTH="107" and HEIGHT="58" for best display in the tables.

If you are an AOL user, you'll need an adapted blurb to make the tables and gifs appear as you would expect on a normal server. If your page is on AOL in the members.aol.com directory, download this blurb, instead of the one above, making the changes noted above to the site ID number and your gif directory.

4) After you have done both HTML and images work, email the Ringmaster at jim barchuk jb@fidonews.org, and ask him to add you to the ring. Please name you URL and site ID number in your message. You will receive more instructions via email after you've completed this queue addition process. After you have been added to the ring, you will receive an email message notifying you of the fact, as well as any other relevant information.
