CorrectionsIt was my fault all along Yup, it was me all along. There have been some questions aimed at Joe Jared about the addresses in the Fidonet via Internet section. The questions were about the ~ (tilde) in some of the addresses being removed. I didn't think much about it until I noticed today that the ~'s were there when I received the file, but not after I "fixed" it for publishing. In explanation: Any article that comes in with "illegal" characters is run through a program called "Paganate". The Paganate program automatically removes those characters. Otherwise, it would take forever to find and remove them since many are invisible control codes generated by some word processors and programs. Unfortunately, I had the Paganate program set to remove the ~ and didn't realize it. :( Not all of the illegal characters are the fault of the author. Sometimes the way a file is saved or exported by me from the Internet will cause problems. My apologies to all affected and to Joe for any hate mail he received because of this. Next time something like this happens, ask me if it is something I have done, remind me of this incident and that I'm not perfect. :-) Regards, Frank |
