?? ERN Charting Committee ??

What is this ERN Charting Committee?

Is this another group of apes reaching for that banana? Where are the old, experienced apes, that know that you can't get that banana?

Maybe this is a group of apes with a new banana. Could be that they just want to put a new banana up for the old apes to look at. Of course, they could just be "riding a dead horse" in a different way.

Anyway, I've received Netmail asking me about the routing in my Net. Why it was sent to me is unknown. I'm not the NC or the NEC. I do handle some of the "Routed Netmail" for my Net, but not the "Echo Routed Netmail" as far as I know.

Still... It would be nice to know what the purpose of this "committee" is and what/why they are doing this. From what I Think I understand, they wish to remain anonymous and only one is willing to stand up and be counted for this endeavor. I guess that's ok... if that's what they want. Still, it does make one wonder....

I've connected to the "Z1ROUTING" Echo and there has been at least one question from a Node in regards to who and what this "ERN Charting Committee" is.

Kind of makes one wonder what the others have to hide, don't it?

So, what is this ERN Charting Committee?? Which ape runs this? Is this a Backbone thing? If so, which one? Is this a "quality committee to find additional uses for dead horses"?

Maybe they are just new apes that haven't learned to leave that banana alone "because that's the way it's always been done around here". Could be that they are "Harnessing several dead horses together to increase speed, efficiency and echo traffic".

Is this something that Zone 1 has "cooked up"? What does the rest of Fidonet think of this?

Is the sending of Netmails to people asking questions about who they route to and "private" links considered "annoying behaviour"?

I don't know, but I would like to invite them to write an article for the Fidonews introducing themselves. If this "ERN Charting Committee" wants some validity, it won't happen if they hide behind one person and remain in the "backrooms" with no information given to the general Fidonet population as to what they are and what they are trying to do.

For now, I think I'll start working on next week's Fidonews....
