Finding an old friend

Gentlemen:

For many years, my wife and I knew Peter C. Adenauer, formerly of Miami, Florida. They (he and his wife) were at our wedding, we kept their daughter with us when a hurricane was scheduled to hit Miami, and both Peter and his ex-wife have stayed with us on numerous occasions.

I know from research he was an active participant in Fido for quite a period of time.

I found he had worked on a project in Dresden, FRG in the late 1990's but cannot find an e-mail address or other current contact. As he and his ex wife in Miami divorced many years ago, that is not an available avenue for information.

Is there any such contact information available through you or your group?

Any help you or your European Fido counterpart could offer in this search would be most appreciated.

TIA

One of Our Own
By Frank Vest

It is great to think that the Fidonews and Fidonet reach out farther than the confines of our network. Just imagine if someone were to read the Fidonews or stumble onto a Fidonet echo and think "This is good. I wonder if I can get permission to use this in my magazine, newspaper or ??". Well, it happened.

I don't know all the details and that's ok. What I do know is that I was contacted by a person asking permission to use an article from the "Fidonews Volume 17, Number 30, July 24, 2000" in the newsletter of a major oil company for it's retired employees. The column was from Warren Bonner (Ol'WDB) and was titled "Some Little Known Facts". I also received a message from Warren telling me that he had given his permission to use the article. Of course, I gave my "Ok" when asked as well.

I know that Ol'WDB would never "toot his own horn", but I will. :-) Warren Bonner has been a columnist in the Fidonews for some time. His wit and thoughts have graced our little publication. He is currently working on a book, and I'm sure has some other projects going. Congratulations to Warren and best wishes on all his ventures.

It's great to think that this lowly Fidonews could reach farther than the confines of Fidonet and that someone, not a part of Fidonet, read and liked something in there. It's also humbling to realize this. We tend, when discussing our problems and troubles in Fidonet, to think that "we" are the only ones that will ever see or care about "us". You may think that no one else reads or cares, but that has just been proven wrong.

Let's keep this in mind when we write for the Fidonews or in a Fidonet echo. Also, when you think that what you have to say isn't worth writing an article over or will never amount to anything, remember that we really don't know who might read what we have to say and think it worth reprinting.

Humbly yours,

Frank
