NoticesFuture History By: brenda donovan Hello all... With Andy Brown's incipient move to the east coast within the new few months, we thought it prudent to offload some of the official duties he was performing. I've asked Al Robres to take over as REC10 and he has graciously agreed. Al will be posting the ERN routing list here soon for everyone to peruse and request changes if they are needed. The route list is for ERN only, so main mail feeds are not part of the equation. Al will be getting in touch with various NEC's or NC's if the net doesn't have a NEC to find out if there are any issues needing resolving. He's here to help you all. Please welcome the new REC10. :) And Thank you, Andy, for all you have done and put up with these past couple of years. take care.. -brenda <donovan@tnl-online.net> --- GEcho/32 1.20/Pro By: Carol Shenkenberger 5 March 2001 Region 13 RC Election The region 13 sysop-wide RC election has concluded and the winner is Thom LaCosta. My thanks go to the other 3 candidates, who also would have made excellent RC's for the region! Thom is now in process of 'turnover' with me and has already proven via testing, his ability to process nodelists at the RC level for use by the Z1C. As of this writing, he is working with the NC's to establish session security. All NC's are being notified to remove session security they currently have on 1:13/0 and send new passwords to him. Unless we hit an unexpected snag, he should be listed as 1:13/0 by 12 April 2001. His term of office is slightly extended over normal R13 methods due to the early election (conducted because I'm moving to Japan and cant fill the full term). RC13 terms are 2 years in duration with elections in October normally. October 2003 is the end of your term. R13 Policy as voted by the sysops in R13, contains no limits to the number of terms an RC can fulfill but they have to do so by the same rules as all other candidates for the position. Welcome to Bedlam Thom! Janis has affirmed it already so now you really are stuck with the job! (Evil Grin) xxcarol Carol Shenkenberger Outbound> Elected RC13 --- Telegard v3. .g2-sp4 <Extract>.... By: Frank Robbins I had researched the FidoNet Trademark in January this year and had placed a copy of the FidoNet Trademark documentation (from birth to present) on my FidoNet (Resource - Support - History) Site at: http://winramturbo.com/fidonet/fidores2.htm#Home As I have been collection FidoNet history for several years now and just have started to assemble it into a website before the "sands of time" or politics erase that info. I have noticed over the years of my collection efforts, lots of FidoNet history files are getting misplaced or lost too rapidly. Some people are not aware of the exact picture Tom used in his Trademark. I show an original copy of the Dog and Diskette that was submitted. I also have a link to Basic Facts About Registering A Trademark by US Patent and Trademark Office: http://www.uspto.gov/web/offices/tac/doc/basic/basic_facts.html It appears that some people should become familiar with those facts before stating an opinion that is contrary to US Patent and Trademark laws. I have visited several hundred FidoNet oriented websites over the years of collecting FidoNet history and have found that some do not give credit to Tom Jennings. BTW, I have been in recent contact with Tom Jennings on about two or three occasions. I can tell you this from other FidoNet SysOps who have tried to contact him, Tom Jennings does not always respond to everyone. I do feel lucky to have received written response from him. (Tom had seen some of my FidoNet history that I posted on another website of mine concerning his FidoNet endeavors through the years.) Janis Kracht also keeps a vigil for the rights of FidoNet! Good for her, too! 8-)) Of course, there are more good FidoNet people out there! It is good to see people stand up for what is right and not be passive about it. Keep the torch burning! 8-)) Frank Robbins at Tools of the Trade http://winramturbo.com/fidonet/ --- BBBS/LiI v4.00 MP |
