Election

I reckon I've stirred the soup in the Z1_ELECTION echo by publicly musing that the election of a new Zone 1 Coordinator seems to have stalled. Joe Jarad commented that this may not be a bad thing since a new Coordinator should be selected carefully.

So what do we have in Zone 1? A ZC election which has stalled and is sputtering, or simply a deliberative process proceeding at an appropriate pace?

I should point out that I have already expressed interest in standing for the ZC position, so an extra burden is imposed on you, the reader, in evaluating my objectivity while commenting on this question.

I don't believe that the RCs have begun a deliberative process yet - not with regard to considering candidate qualifications, anyway. The announced actions so far have been:

  1. Some talk among the RCs in their restricted echo concerning the best way to select a new ZC, and
  2. A request from the individual RCs of their regions concerning the best method of selection: direct election by the sysops, election by the NCs, or closed selection by the RCs.

I believe that, at this point, there has been adequate time to gather input from all the regions, and adequate time to decide on the mechanism of selection. It's time to put the candidates forward and begin the deliberative process... whatever it's going to be.
