Ever used Qmail? Areafix? Tick? Imagine all three stirred together, add liberal amounts of steroids and tabasco, update for the 90s, and that is what Majordomo is. :)
majordomo@fidonews.org is finally ready for prime time. There are three separate 'flavors' available for your dining and dancing pleasure.
First is a 'plain text' version, directly viewable via Juno or Hotmail or any email reader. I am not stripping the formfeeds, some servers in the routes may do that, the PGP sig in DaSnooze is therefore never guaranteed to be accurate.
There are two flavors of encoded distribution, uuencoded and base64. If anyone needs another flavor just ask and I'll look into it.
All subscriptions for the new distribution lists must be addressed:
To: majordomo@fidonews.org
The Subject: line is -not- used.
In the body of your subscription message enter one (or more if you like) of the following:
- subscribe fnews-text
- subscribe fnews-uue
- subscribe fnews-base64
Majordomo will return a 'confirmation' message which you MUST reply to for your subscription to be finalised. After receiving your confirmation majordomo will send a 'welcome' message. That message will include unsub info.
For a little more info about majordomo you can add the word 'help' to the body of any message sent to majordomo@fidonews.org.

Technical notes:
- The 'impression' I get is that there might be different variations on the 'begin' line for base64 encoding. No guarantees that what I output will be compatible with what you're using but if there are any problems I'll look into it.
- For those of you doing automagical file processing files: There will be no guarantee of a standard Subject: line. What will be guaranteed is the Sender: line in the message header. Take a look at that and all will become obvious.
